"Convivial Tools"

“Convivial Tools” explores the philosophy of Ivan Illich in his book “Tools for Conviviality”. As a design-build project, students were expected to create a furniture scaled “Convivial Tool” work that encouraged conviviality and knowledge/skill exchange. The students explored a variety of methods and materials including, concrete, steel and welding, fabric, steam bending wood, and material re-use.
